The non-profit North
American Society for Childhood Onset Schizophrenia was established
in October 2004 to address the unique needs of COS patients, their families
and caregivers. The prognosis for childhood (i.e. before age 13) onset
schizophrenics is generally thought to be poor, and we believe that to
achieve an optimum outcome a child with COS must be maintained on the
most efficacious medicines and, equally important, in a supportive, non-stressful
environment. The founding members of NASCOS are parents of COS children.
The operating expenses of NASCOS.ORG are currently borne by the Directors
of the society which is registered as a non-profit corporation in New
Jersey, USA.
Donations
to NASCOS will be gratefully received!
